TREVOR WILSON

Trevor Wilson has been a songwriter and led multiple ensembles, including Tall Ships (2006-2007, JJ Beck, Sam Clement, Maia Friedman, Alex Powell), and the ensemble for Growth and Decay (2009, Emily Call, Megan Diehl, Jackson Emmer, Maia Friedman, Jonny Grusauskas, Ham Poe, Amelia Meath, and Jennifer Schwartz). Over the years, for different performances or recordings, he has worked with Maddie Herec, Heather Sommerlad, Adele Mori, Marie Valigorsky, Alex Sauser-Monnig, Michael Chinworth, Asher Woodworth, Tavo Carbone, The Wailing Wall, and many others.

Trevor's interests have changed over the years, but some common threads remain- among those, an expression of genuinity ('open up your face!'), tightly woven background vocals, and harmon-ically advanced progressions. Probably most dramatic to the first listener is Trevor's voice, a particularly idiosyncratic high tenor. It can be sharp, soulful, and sweet all at once.

For albums Lions, Sheep, and Trains (2003), Acknowledgements (2005), Tall Ships (2006), and Plants and Bodies (2007), the songwriting was focused around the piano. Recently Trevor has taken to new avenues of expression, letting the voice create the harmonic structure for Growth and Decay (2009), and currently experimenting with the ukulele. Samples are currently available for the next, untitled release.
